Meet Shannen Sharpe
(No, not that one.)
I’ve spent over a decade in the newsroom deciding which voices make it to air and which stories get told. As a producer and newsroom manager at WTVC NewsChannel 9 in Chattanooga, WAGA FOX 5 Atlanta, and Scripps News, I selected the soundbites that captured audiences and chose the interviews that made an impact.
Some of my favorite moments in local news came from producing “Sideline Wrap Up,” NewsChannel 9’s Friday night football coverage celebrating high school athletes across East Tennessee and North Georgia. Watching those young competitors shine on the field inspired me, but I noticed something: the most successful athletes weren’t just talented players, they were confident communicators who could articulate their stories both on and off the field.
After transitioning out of the news industry, I founded Stay Sharpe Media to share what I learned in those newsrooms with the next generation. Every athlete has a story worth telling, and my job is to help you tell it with clarity, authenticity, and confidence, whether you’re talking to coaches, media, or building your personal brand. These are life skills that serve you far beyond any playing field.
From interview techniques to social media presence, I’ll teach you what journalists, coaches, and audiences actually want to hear. Because confidence isn’t just about your sport, it’s about knowing how to represent yourself wherever life takes you.
From live trucks to national pressers
The newsroom came first: live trucks, control rooms, Friday night football. These days I lead marketing and communications for a law firm, where the same skills get game-day reps. When a major case broke, I planned the national press conference below in under 24 hours.
